Red Man Group

Something I didn't expect to see in a race, was humor. There were a bunch of people dressed in silly costumes scattered throughout the run. It definately made being there more enjoyable and I'll be posting the shots as I get to them.

There were a bunch of primary colourmen, blues, blacks, reds, in singles and in groups, and even a few costumed superheros.

Here is one such fellow.

Wet

On Saturday there was a 10 Kilometre run in my city (well, it's not *my* city per se, but I live here) and of course it had to pour down rain.

Didn't stop me from (being miserable, cold and wet) going out there and taking pics of the runners. Unfortunately I traded speed for range and the lens I took wasn't fast enough, so I had to
crank up the ISO, and as a result the images are a tad noisy.

As the rain let up and the sun started to peek through the clouds, things improved, but the earlier shots will have noise reduction software applied.

Or course it was all my clothes

Seems the husband forgot to tell his wife to bring some clothes along, fortunately I had some stuff to work with.

Could have used a slightly lighter background, but all I have are black and white backgrounds, so we work with what we have.

More people practice

Husband and Wife teams agreed to let me photograph them, they were most fun to shoot and were quite creative in their poses.

This is what makes photographing people fun.

Warm Weather

The city is currently in the grip of 80 degree weeks, so it is only natural to photograph people indoors, right?

Single light, head-on, and shooting around the light stand (a lot harder than it sounds) for a local artist.

Welcome to Cubeville

A 200mm lens attached to my Nikon f3hp, gives this cubist view of downtown. A sunny day just after lunch casts just the right shadows.

If only the city was as interesting as the pictures portray it to be, it'd be a fun place to explore. As it is, it's just old and rundown.

Another way of looking at things

I couldn't decide which set of stairs I liked the most, so I'm posting both of them and letting you, my world-wide audience, decide.

Geometric

The secure parking lot where I park for work is full of interesting geometric shapes. Here is a set of stairs for example. I'm trying to branch out in my photography and capture not just the things that are innately beautiful, but everyday ordinary things too.

Cityscape

Apparently it's now Spring as we are experiencing 70+ degree days. Not that I'm complaining mind you, but I would like just one more good (3+ inches) snowstorm before warm weather returns.

In any case, the warm weather brings heavy fog, and a downtown enshrouded in it. Hard to capture (I need to read more on how to properly do that) the scene, but I think I pulled it off well.....enough.

In Celebration of Film

So yes I'm having great fun carrying around my Nikon f3hp and shooting stuff I see. Since the camera came pre-brassed (aka, used) I don't feel so bad about slinging it about and adding to the scratches, scuffs and other assorted dings.

So while BW400CN film can still be had, I'm shooting as much of it as I can get my hands on, which is to say, quite a bit.

Here is a fun example, of dinner, shot through a 28mm macro lens. Natural light and in a purple dish.
