Somewhere Different

A different location in downtown. I think it says "Lemonade", and before you ask, no, I've no idea what the artist was trying to say, or represent. Alien Greys would be my guess, but don't quote me on that.

Lips, Incorporated

Same area, same wall (it was a big wall) and a bright spot in an otherwise dull downtown. I guess I shouldn't say dull, just too familiar , as I work downtown and tend to overlook the details whle I'm down there.
I'm pretty sure the artist wasn't the same as the other images, but nothing was signed, and the styles looked different enough. But I could easily be wrong.

Bird's Eye View of Things

Ok so that was a bad pun, sorry about that. Went walking around town this morning, as a photoshoot I'd had lined up fell through. One of the places I'd been before (see Richmond By Night elsewhere in this journal) has undergone a "makeover". The next three pics I'm going to post, are examples of this. Judging from the quality of the street art, it was sanctioned by the city, which I approve of, as the area was just one of many doing nothing but being dead space.

More Friends!

A dear friend and local artist that I have colaborated with has set up her journal as well. I encourage all my visitors to drop by her place and say Hi!

No, wait, I've got it!

It's Pacman! Granted, Pacman's seen better days (all that ghost chasing is starting to show) but all I need to do is add in small yellow dots on the right of the picture, and it'll be perfectly clear.
Right? Right?
Ah what do you guys know anyway? ;-)
Yeah ok, it's the Deathstar

Lol Wut?

I don't normally go for Internet memes, but if you've ever seen the image of the green 'pear' laughing, you'll know what the title references.
Also in the DC art area, it's a...well I don't know what it is. Maybe a bird, maybe a plane, perhaps even a Death Star.
Artists, who can figure them out?

This is a

cow. Of course, the sculptor says it's a nightbird, but what do sculptors know? I think it's a cow, look it has horns, a tail, pointy ears. I mean, ever seen a bird with ears? Of course not. It's a cow. Crazy artists.

Famous Places

This place should need no introduction, but all the same it's Falling Water, the house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Could only photograph from outside and only from certain positions but it still turned out well in my opinion.

Art

Okay, this image is more art than photography. If you couldn't tell, I have photoshopped the original image, taken with my FED-3 Russian rangefinder camera, and turned it into a painting.
I had gone to an 'Earth Day' event at a local community college, and they had hundreds of little white tents where people sold their wares, and companies showed off their 'Green' technology.
The FED-3 has a prime lens, and I haven't really got a handle on how best to utilize it. The lens gives images that are razor sharp, but the camera is finicky, leading to extra time spent composing and prep work, thus losing the shot.
I'm thinking stationary people are this camera's party piece, but I need more work to be certain.
In any case, the image, while nice, just looked better converted in PhotoShop, so I posted it here.

Glamour

Practicing my 'glamour shots' photography with a friend. I think that people shots can be the most fascinating images possible, but also the most difficult, as most people are naturally camera shy and it takes a special person to "act naturally" in front of the lens.
So, in an effort to polish my skills, I've asked some friends if I can experiment on them (insert evil mad scientist laughter here)
The image turned out rather well from many standpoints, lighting and shadows being two that immediately spring to mind. So in any event I'm sharing with you.

Processed

I find it interesting the amount of processing I have to do with a digital image, in order to get it to match what I can normally take with my Yashica TLRs. Once again, a colourful path that I've adjusted to match what could very well be possible on a dusky fall day. I won't bother you with the original image, but this one evokes much more emotion, gives the feeling of tension, something waiting to happen to the person walking down this path.

Haunting

Same park by the river, but this picture is heavily edited to give the impression of a mysterious place. The actual colour picture is bright and cheerful, this image is more what I had in mind when I saw the area. Samsung digital SLR, heavily processed, so it's more art than photography.

Hydra

No, your eyes are not playing tricks on you, this image is really turned on the side. I felt it made for a more interesting visualization.
The title of this post comes from a song "Teeth of the Hydra" by the excellent 80s metal band "Omen"
