Lost

I understand our team is still in the running for the playoffs, but not last night, as you can see on the faces of the players.

A rare PhotoShop for me, I washed the colour out, to increase emotion from the scene.

Take Me Out To The Ball Game

Local minor league game last night. Actually they run almost non-stop here in town, but I'm not much of an action shooter, nor a fan of baseball (what you say?) but the tickets were free and I figured I would push my Nikon D2x to the limits.

And to the limits I did, shooting all the way up to 3200 ISO and getting respectable results.

Our home team lost by the way, which is why the glum face seen here.

This Is Not A Submarine

Everytime these guys went under, I wanted to rush out there and help right them, but just as I was getting ready to put down the camera, they'd pop up like a cork.

I swear, the things people do for fun! ;-)

Down We Go!

Here, for example, is the aforementioned crazy (or possibly very brave) kayaker doing an intentional dive into the rapids. Although it's not pictured, he went upside down in just a few seconds, to be carried away by the river, only to upright himself and repeat the process.

I imagine he does this for fun, much like birds that swoop down in front of cars, and not because he's barking mad.

The Lazy Days of Summer

Birds singing, children laughing, crazy kayakers taking on the rapids, all the usual things you find on a hot summer day.

Down by where I work is the main river bisecting the city, yesterday I went down there to catch the long shadows playing over the water and hoping to catch something of interest.

And behold! A group of kayakers came screaming through the waves, practicing flips and turns and navigating the rocks.

I wish I had a sharper lens (I accept paypal!) but it will do for now.

Rough Neighborhood

The rough section of the golf course. Taken at 10mm (ultra wide) in portrait mode, allowing me to get everything into the scene, albeit at a slight distortion.

Kiteboarders

Part of the shore set, the kiteboarders were out on this sunny day having a good time and the conditions were perfect for that and photography. Caught this guy readying his gear to go out.

Classic

It's the classic baseball pose. I went to a baseball game the other day, which happened to be sold out, so I had to sit in the nosebleed section. Fortunately I had taken my catadioptric (aka Reflex) lens with me which allowed some full frame shots.

The game was a slaughter, the home team scoring many more touchdowns, than the other team scored goals. Or something. Anyway, the home team won, which was cause for great celebration for the fans. Apparently the home team doesn't win much.

In any case, I like this pose because of the vagueness of it. In other words, did he just hit a grand slam? Or did he miss the ball entirely and struck out, causing his team to lose when all the bases were loaded? I don't remember, I just like the pose.
